In a significant display of diplomatic prowess, President Bola Tinubu has stepped in to mediate the ongoing disputes between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with far-reaching implications for Emirates airlines and the issuance of visas to Nigerians.

President Tinubu’s proactive approach underscores his commitment to fostering peaceful relations and advancing African nations’ collective prosperity by addressing internal challenges and honoring commitments.

This significant development unfolded as President Tinubu welcomed three esteemed envoys to the State House: Ambassador Awall Wagris Mohammed of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Ambassador Miriam Morales Palmero of the Republic of Cuba, and Ambassador Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi of the United Arab Emirates.

During a private meeting with Ambassador Mohammed, President Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s dedication to bolstering trade, security, and economic growth across African countries. He emphasized the importance of intra-African collaboration in overcoming regional obstacles, asserting, “Africans need to work for the progress of Africa. We should be able to resolve our internal problems collectively. Home-grown solutions are better for all of us, and the remedies will last longer.”

Ambassador Mohammed expressed his admiration for President Tinubu’s transformative decisions and policies in Nigeria, while also expressing his commitment to enhancing the relationship between Nigeria and Ethiopia.

Turning his attention to the UAE Ambassador, President Tinubu directed immediate attention to the issues affecting the Emirates Airline’s operations and the issuance of visas to Nigerian citizens. Demonstrating his resolve, he asserted his willingness to intervene personally to ensure that these matters are resolved swiftly.

Drawing on a familial metaphor, President Tinubu highlighted the interconnectedness of Nigeria and the UAE, emphasizing, “We are a family with UAE, we only live in separate rooms, but we are in the same house. We should look at the issues as a family problem and resolve it amicably.”

In response, the UAE Ambassador expressed his deep affinity for Nigeria, considering its historical prominence, enduring leadership role in Africa, and hospitable nature. He underscored his dedication to resolving the issues at hand, emphasizing that they are familial matters that will be resolved through collaborative efforts.

This diplomatic intervention exemplifies President Tinubu’s commitment to fostering unity and cooperation among African nations and resolving internal disputes in a harmonious manner. It also serves as a testament to his leadership on both national and continental stages.
